Dubai Police Rescue Department was called to handle a bizarre incident – to rescue a camel that had fallen into a drainage hole.
Speaking to Emirates 24|7, Major Khalid Al Hammadi, Acting Director-General of Dubai Police Rescue Department and Head of Special Task Force at Dubai Police, said this accident took place a few weeks ago.
“A watchman called Dubai Police for help to rescue a camel, which fell into a drainage hole. It was a strange case. But we care about saving lives, be it humans or animals,” said Major Al Hammadi.
However, the situation was not good as the camel was stuck in a deep hole and was heavy, too, he added.
“We also had another problem on hand. The animal was trying to attack us and bite the rescue staff who were attempting to pull it out,” he recalled.
So they came up with a plan to save the camel. “We first tied its mouth with a rope, and then started pulling it out. We were extremely happy when we ultimately rescued it safely,” Major Al Hammadi said and added that this was one of the bizarre rescue cases the team dealt with in 2015.
