A Chinese engineer was shot and wounded by unidentified men outside a bank in Pakistan's commercial hub, Karachi, on Thursday, police said.
"Around one or two persons shot the car, in which the Chinese engineer was travelling, after trying to snatch his cellphone and money," said police chief Fayyaz Leghari.
Police said there were two Chinese men in the car. The wounded man was taken to hospital. The other was unharmed.
Rising violence -- from targeted killings to drive-by shootings to attacks by militants -- have raised questions over the stability of Karachi, Pakistan's biggest city.
Most foreign companies have their headquarters there.
It is also home to Pakistan's main port, stock exchange and central bank and the main gateway for Western military supplies bound for neighbouring land-locked Afghanistan.
