Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said on Tuesday that the flow of natural gas from Azerbaijan completely stopped due to a technical problem, while there was a reduction in the amount of gas from Iran.
"Right now there has been no natural gas flow from Azerbaijan," Yildiz told reporters, adding that the platform in Azerbaijan was unable to process gas.
Both Iran and Azerbaijan provide Turkey with 40 million cubic metres of gas daily through a pipeline called the "eastern line" but this amount dropped by about 15 percent due to the technical problems, said the minister.
Yildiz said Turkish consumers should not worry as the problem should be resolved and that they had back-up plans in the event of a worst-case scenario.
