Saudi Arabia power demand to triple by 2032 -official

Top oil exporter Saudi Arabia's power demand is expected to triple by 2032, a Saudi official said on Sunday.

While the kingdom sits on some of the world's largest oil and gas reserves, it has struggled to keep up with rapidly rising power demand as petrodollars have fueled a Gulf-wide economic boom.

"We expect power demand to triple by 2032," Hashim Yamani, president of the King Abdullah Atomic and Renewable Energy City said at an industry event in Riyadh.
