Turkmen president re-elected with 97% of votes

Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov won a landslide victory in a presidential election with 97.14 percent, the election commission said Monday, with almost all votes counted.

The election commission declared that Berdymukhamedov was re-elected as president after Sunday's election which saw him stand against seven candidates whose participation appeared aimed at making up the numbers.
