A thief with taste for grilled chicken

Saudi police are hunting for a thief who appears to have a taste for grilled chicken after some restaurants near Islam’s holiest mosque reported his visits, Sharq newspaper said on Monday.

The unidentified thief waits for restaurant workers to go for prayers at the nearby Grand Mosque in Makkah to raid the griller and pulls a chicken out of the skewer, the paper said.

“During his latest operation, he was caught by a restaurant worker who was late to go for prayers,” it said.

“When the worker tried to stop him and take the chicken back, the thief attacked him and beat him up before fleeing…the worker was admitted to hospital unconscious with several punches on the face.”
