Dog undergoes surgery after eating 36-feet of Christmas ribbon

BRITAIN: Buster the Jack Russell had to have life-saving surgery after greedily devouring  reams of festive ribbon causing his stomach to swell.

Vets pulled out ‘ribbon after ribbon, like a magic trick’ after owners Martin and Carolyn Price, from Yetminster, Dorset, noticed his stomach had ballooned to more than twice its normal size, reports Metro.

Medics originally thought the dog had an enormous tapeworm in its stomach, but it later turned out to be a bad case of tinsel-itis, the daily said.

Buster's owner told the paper: 'It's something a puppy would do, not a full grown dog.

The tape was measured by the owners (after a long cycle in the washing machine) and was found to be more than 11 metres in length.
