In a rather creepy development, social networking site Facebook is hosting an application that will allow users to post a message after their death.

The third-party app called “If I die” lets users record a video or text message that will only be published in the event of their death, reports Courier Mail.

Users who install the app will have to choose three trustees from their friends list who in the event of the user's death will confirm the passing away. Once the trustees confirm, the message would be posted on the user's wall - posthumously.

A digital strategist told the daily that those who suffer from terminal illnesses can control how they sign out their 'social footprint'.
