A bizarre-looking animal with sharp claws charged at workers at an Indonesian oil-palm plantation in Sibu, Sarawak last week.
One of the workers hit the animal until it appeared to pass out.. And later, when it regained consciousness it was forced to return into the jungle, reported AsiaOne, quoting an article in ‘Borneo Post’ and ‘Stomp’.
Workers claim they haven’t seen such a creature.
Borneo Post later reported that the creature was a sun bear with skin disease, as confirmed by the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC).
An SFC spokesperson was also quoted as saying that the animal was sick and was losing hair.
It’s habitat was flooded and hence it may have crossed onto the plantation, guess authorities.
