News of stolen cars has become normal in Saudi Arabia after a surge in such crimes. But what is not normal is when a car is pinched just near a traffic police centre.

A Saudi man who parked his car next to the traffic department in the Gulf Kingdom and nipped towards a shop returned two minutes later to find his vehicle has gone.

“I have just gone into the shop and returned to find that my Camry is not there,” the man said, quoted by the Saudi Arabic language daily Sabq.

“I parked it just next to the traffic police department.

“I left the key in it but it was a busy area. I don’t know how they stole it,” he told the paper in a report from the Western Saudi town of Al Qunfudah.
