A 14-year-old boy who was mauled by his schoolmates last week has died in Metro Manila’s Taguig City two days after laying comatose in a hospital.

Radio reports said that one of the two suspects, who mauled the victim using a brass knuckle, is now under the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Senior Superintendent Arthur Felix, police chief of Taguig, refused to divulge more details of the incident to the media, saying that the case is now being handled by DSWD, as the suspects are minors.

Earlier reports said the victim, identified only as Jury, was at the registrar’s office of Diosdado Macapagal High School, in Barangay Katuparan, for his 4th-year enrolment when he accidently bumped the two suspects in a queue.

“The suspects allegedly got angry over this, and so they waited for my son until after the enrolment and mauled him using a brass knuckle,” Nelia Habon, the victim’s mother, said in a radio interview last Monday.

She said her son had lost consciousness because of the severe beating he suffered from the suspects, and was rushed to Taguig-Pateros District Hospital. He died after two days.

She added that Jury was the youngest of four siblings.

Businesswoman killed by parking attendant

For not getting his last salary of 1,000 pesos (Dh88.82; $24.18), a former car park attendant  is suspected to have killed his employer and stabbed her two daughters near the central Philippine island of Boracay,

Radio reports said the suspect, 22-year-old Rogelio Bigornia, a resident of the nearby province of Antique, is now detained at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Station in Malay town, Aklan province.

It wasn’t clear when the incident happened, but reports reaching Manila said this was first reported in the provincial media on April 16.

The 60-year-old victim, Agnes Sancho, a resident of Barangay Caticlan, from where people going to the world-famous Boracay beach take a 20-minute boat ride, died on the spot.

Reports added that the suspect also stabbed her daughters Sunshine Agnes, 10, and Dion, 4, who were rushed to hospital.

Initial investigation showed that Bigornia, who had left his job at Sancho’s car park business, visited her recently to claim the remainder of his last salary.

She allegedly refused to give him the money, prompting Bigornia to kill her.
