'Safe' naked-body scanners at world airports soon

Naked body scanners could soon be a reality in the UK as scientists have declared them safe, reported Daily Mail.

An EU study concluded that the risk from the scanners, which uses X-Rays to scan through passengers' clothes is 'close to zero'.

The European Commission is expected to approve the technology and the scanners could be rules out in UK airports.

A Manchester Airport spokesperson said they were waiting for this report from EU because the UK and US governments had carried similar tests before and had concluded the same findings.

Cabin crew lose hair after wearing uniform

Cabin crew of Alaska Airlines allege that their uniform - introduced last year -  may be contaminated with toxic material which is resulting in hair loss and other unpleasant reactions.

According to a 'Daily Mail' report, the association representing flight attendants have demand their smart navy blue uniforms be changed.

One of them complained of rashes breaking out over her body.

Meanwhile, tests of uniforms conducted at three different labs have failed to determine the cause, said airlines officials.

School girl punished for dyeing hair like Rihanna

A 15-year-old girl of North Wales school was suspended after she dyed her hair bright red - inspired by Rihanna.

The teenager was sent back home in the middle of her exams, according to a Daily Mail report.

The girl's mother said she had taken her daughter to get colour strips on her hair but it turned to be permanent colour. The teen was sent to a room with other naughty kids and segregated from her class. And this is having a detrimental effect on her academic performance, said the mother.

Offending driver shot by Saudi traffic police

A Saudi traffic police pulled out his gun and shot a local driver who tried to attack him after committing a traffic offence in the Gulf Kingdom. 

The police man had chased the Saudi driver after he jumped the red signal on a busy road in the central town of Wadi Al Dawasir.

When the driver refused to go with the policeman to the station, he tried to take him by force, prompting the driver to attack the cop.

"The policeman pulled his gun and shot the driver, who was taken to hospital with injuries in the thigh…it was an irresponsible behavior by the police man,” Sabq Arabic language daily said. 

Girl who dreamed kidnapped goes missing

A teenage Saudi girl who had a dream that she was kidnapped has been missing for more than a week and her father has announced a “big reward” for any information about her. 

Wijdan, 17, disappeared from her house in the southern town of Najran on April 26 and an extensive search operation by the police and residents have produced no results, a newspaper said.

Her father said Wijdan had a fear of raqis (healers by Koran) and had always run into her room at the sight of any raqi.

"A few days before she disappeared, Wijdan told us she had a dream that she was kidnapped…we did not give this matter any attention,” he said, quoted by the Saudi Arabic language daily Sabq.

He said police were still searching for his daughter, adding that he would give a “big cash reward” to any one who gives information about her whereabouts.
