Long Island Suffolk County Police officers, along with firefighters from the Dix Hills and Commack Fire Departments helped rescue it after it became trapped in an in-ground swimming pool on Carlls Straight Path.

Three horses had escaped from a stable on Grayson Court in Dix Hills. Two were quickly caught but the third one, named Mikey, ended up in a 7-foot deep swimming pool, with only his head sticking above the icy water.

Officers from the Emergency Service Section and Marine Bureau Section, along with firefighters from the Dix Hills and Commack Fire Department, attempted to bring Mikey out of the pool.

It took about 40 minutes to fish the horse out of the water. Two firefighters were treated for hypothermia at Huntington Hospital and are in stable condition.

Mikey was walked back to the stable by his owner.
