A Canadian man gave 10,000 Canadian dollars (US$9,644, Dh35,400) as a tip after the dinner following having burger and fries at a restaurant.
The man, who goes by the name of Robert Erb, was on his way to bury his father’s ashes when he stopped on the way at a restaurant for the dinner, Soshiok website reported quoting CTV News.
There Erb had a chat with the restaurant owner Clifford Luther who told Erb that his daughter was diagnosed with cancer and he just came to know about it. Erb told Luther that his son had also died five years ago.
According to Luther Erb returned few days later and had a meal again at the restaurant. Erb told Luther that he didn’t have the cash and would rather pay the bill and tip by cheque.
Luther said he refused to take the bill saying that the meal was on him, but Erb insisted and left a cheque of C$10,000, the Soshiok report said.
Luther also suggested Erb that he go and see his daughter after he received the cheque.
CTV News said that Erb had won C$25 million lottery last year and had donated C$7 million to charities.
