Mum sues for $900 trillion over kids' custody

A New York City woman is suing the city's child welfare department for $900 trillion for removing her two sons from her custody.

Fausat Ogunbayo is seeking the damages from the Administration for Children's Services (ACS), according to court papers published online overnight by The Smoking Gun.

Ms Ogunbayo, 46, claims her civil rights were violated when the ACS deemed her mentally incapable of caring for her two boys - now 13 and 16 years old - and placed them in foster care in 2008.

In her complaint, filed January 30 in Brooklyn federal court, Ms Ogunbayo says she is seeking the astronomical damages from the ACS for causing her and her children "substantial economic hardship", depriving them of family integrity and civil rights and "disregarding the probability of plaintiff's children suffering emotional and mental distress".

The city has not yet responded to the lawsuit, according to The Smoking Gun.
