Man charged of rape and taking pictures
Ras Al Khaima criminal court heard a case of an Arab man raping a woman who is also his relative.
The woman, DM accused HA of raping her and taking her naked pictures and also of defamation.
But the defense lawyer demanded all charges to be dropped against the accused due to the lack of sufficient evidence. The lawyer said there is contradiction in the statements of the victim.
The prosecution also excluded the rape charges from the case because of the different statements of the victim at all stages of the investigation, and the delay in reporting the incident after a month of the actual crime.
The incident took place last year and the victim filed a complaint of being raped and beaten by a relative.
According to DM, she was cheated when HA claimed that his mother is sick and wanted to see her.
She testified that when she went to his house she was surprised that her mother is not there and the defendant hit her on her head and raped her when she was unconscious.
He then photographed her naked and stolen her clothes.
The police arrested the accused and conduct the necessary legal investigations. The case was referred to the public prosecution where the accused denied all charges against him.
The next hearing of the case has been scheduled to February 29 reported Emarat Al Youm.
