The hunt is for what police believe to be a girl aged between 12 and 14 who is believed to have staged an audacious HK$36 million (Dh17 million) diamond necklace robbery.
According to a report in South China Morning Post, the incident took place at the Emperor Jewellery shop in the 1881 Heritage shopping mall in Tsim Sha Tsui in Hong Kong.
Images captured on CCTV footage show two women, a man and the girl well-dressed and distracting staff by asking to look at a series of items.
The girl steals a key from a drawer, opens a cabinet and then slips the necklace into her pocket.
The report quotes detectives as saying her adult accomplices, aged between 30 and 40, remained inside the mall as if nothing had happened.
Staff only noticed the 100-carat gold necklace embedded with more than 30 diamonds missing at 5pm.
