Three-year-old Cain Trainor decided to walk home on his own while the teachers were busy during a changeover from nursery to after-school session.

The child covered a distance of 1.5 miles from nursery to home. The boy's teachers at the playgroup in Middlesborough were almost in tears when they discovered the child missing. The mother of the child rushed to the nursery to help figure out where Cain could have disappeared to, when the boy's neighbour called up the nursery to tell them that he had returned home.

Not only did little Cain reach home, he also stopped at the local supermarket to check if his mother had gone there to buy some milk!

The mother, who was much relieved after the phone call from the neighbour, told UK daily Metro that she was quite proud of her son that he could manage to find his way home at that tender age.

Despite the hiccup, the mother has no plans to change her child's nursery. Meanwhile, the nursery thanked the family for being 'understanding'.
