Priyanka Chopra’s next film in Bollywood will all probability be director Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury’s next Hindi film after his National Award winning film Pink.
The Amitabh Bachchan-Taapsee Pannu starrer won the National Award this year for the Best Feature Film on Social Issues.
Priyanka was considering or was being considered for the female lead for a possible third instalment of Don - Don 3 co-starring Shah Rukh Khan.
But with her relationship with King Khan having gone sour over the past few months and the script of the film not being ready as well, Priyanka needed to sign one of those multiple films being offered to her at the earliest.
Her Hollywood debut Baywatch, co-starring Dwayne Johnson, will release in the second week of May and Priyanka will be free from her responsibilities from the film by mid of May.
After Baywatch, Priyanka Chopra has been due for a film in Bollywood. Her last offering at the Indian turnstiles Jai Gangajal was washed away in an unholy manner and the critics felt that director Prakash Jha was more interested in launching himself as an actor rather than make a film with Priyanka in the lead.
“Priyanka has many offers. But she has particularly expressed a desire to work with Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury because of his hard-hitting Pink. Aniruddha has already won National awards earlier for his work in Bengali cinema with films like Anuranan and Antaheen. She wants to do meaningful cinema that also has some commercial value and Aniruddha is the best fit,” says an industry source.
