Recruitment firms cannot charge workers fees

Private employment agencies are not entitled to charge fees or commissions from labourers, according to the Ministry of Labour. They are in turn required to return the amount collected, reported Al Khaleej newspaper.

As per the ministry law, recruitment agencies are required to submit the contracts (signed between the two parties - workers and employers), wherein terms and conditions are clearly mentioned.

In case of labourers being hired from abroad, they are required to sign the contract before entering the UAE. The contract should also mentions  wage payments, deposit guarantee of Dh2,000, etc.

The recruitment agenceis are asked to maintain records of deals for three years.

The Ministry of Labour is authorised to withdraw the licence of any recruitment agency if it does not adhere to the rules, submits false documents or engages in human trafficking or forced labour.
