A passenger claiming to be an engineer at Saudi Aramco, the world’s largest oil producing company, wrangled with a steward at over 38,000 feet in air for refusing to open his window before landing, a local daily reported on Saturday.

The cabin crew member asked the passengers on board Saudi Airlines domestic flight 1136 from Riyadh to the Eastern port of Dammam to roll up their windows after the captain announced its imminent landing.

One passenger, who said he was a Saudi Aramco engineer, refused to do so on the grounds it was an unnecessary procedure, Alyoum newspaper said.

“An argument between the steward and those passengers ensued and it then developed into wrangling and shouting,” the paper said.

“The incident caused concern to the passengers and the steward decided later to write a report and submit it to authorities… many passengers agreed to sign the report as witnesses to the incident.”
