England beat New Zealand by 40 runs in their opening Twenty20 international at Eden Park here Saturday.

England posted their highest ever T20 score of 214 for seven with Eoin Morgan making 46 and Luke Wright 42.

New Zealand, in reply, made 174 for nine in their 20 overs.

The second match in the series is in Hamilton on Tuesday.
