Saqlain Haider blasted a superb century to guide Phoenix Medicine to a huge 162-run victory against DCB Kings in the 5th Al Dhaid Gold Cup Tournament organised by Sharjah Cricket Council at the Al Dhaid Cricket Village.

Opting to bat first, Phoenix Medicine had a shaky start losing three wickets for just 29 runs.

But Saqlain held the innings to bail out the team from a situation of bother to a commanding position.

He shared a 68-run stand with Fahad Ansari (32) for the fourth wicket and then a mammoth 125-run for the fifth wicket with Qasim, who hammered a 56-ball 88 consisting of four boundaries and as many sixes.

Haider, meanwhile, reached a well deserved 117 from only 91 deliveries consisting of 15 boundaries and one six.

Ayub struck a 14-ball 28 during the final stages as Phoenix Medicine scored a mammoth 296 for seven in 38 overs.

Chasing an imposing target, DCB Kings were heavily troubled by some fine bowling performances from Asif and Tariq who bagged four wickets each while Danyal Shakeel took two.

For DCB Kings, Sujit top scored with 38 while Saqib (32) and Ajay (30) were the other scorers who came good with the bat as they were bundled out in 134 in 27.2 overs.
