IPL 7 T20 MI vs CSK: Chennai pull off thrilling four-wicket win

Dwayne Smith fired a brilliant half century while Mahendra Singh Dhoni blasted a 12-ball 22 to give Chennai Super Kings a close four-wicket win over Mumbai Indians in the Wankhade Stadium in Mumbai.

Chasing 158 to win, Smith scored 57 from 51 balls including five boundaries and three sixes while Raina made a brief 19 from 11 balls.

Faf du Plessis kept the chase under control as he scored 31 from 24 balls before Dhoni smashed a quick 22 to finish the job in style with three balls to spare.

Earlier, a half century from Ambati Rayudu and some late flourish from Corey Anderson meant Mumbai Indians piled on 157 for six in 20 overs.

Put in to bat, Lendl Simmons provided a good start scoring 38 from as many balls.

Rayudu carried on the good work to score 59 from 43 deliveries including two sixes and four boundaries while skipper Rohit Sharma chipped in with a crucial 19.

Anderson provided a six-ball 18 not out including two sixes as Mumbai had a strong total.

Dhoni does it again as he hammers 22 runs from just 12 balls to take Chennai over the line. CSK 160-6 in 19.3 overs.

The match is still on as Malinga removes Jadeja. CSK 146-5 in 18.5 overs.

MUMBAI INDIANS INNINGS

A collapse for Mumbai here as Rayudu departs in similar fashion but this time Jadeja takes the catch hardly moving a step. MI 129-5 in 18.1 overs.

A misfield got a boundary for Mumbai otherwise every run is being scored with great difficult as the bowlers continue to impress. MI 99-2 in 15 overs.

Another good over from Ashwin. Chennai have managed to Mumbai tied. Mumbai certainly need some big shots from here if they are to eye a big total. MI 93-2 in 14 overs.

Rayudu going strong at 34 as Badree completes his spell. He gave 34 runs from his four overs with one wicket. MI 86-2 in 13 overs.

Chennai get the break as Simmons departs off Ashwin's bowling. MI 77-2 in 11.5 overs.

It's getting difficult for Mumbai as runs completely have dried up. Ashwin gives away only three runs in his opening over. MI 57-1 in 10 overs.

Boundaries have dried up as bowlers continue to impress. Jadeja has given only nine runs from his two overs. MI 54-1 in 9 overs.

Simmons reaches 24 while Rayudu batting on 11. MI 46-1 in 7 overs.

Rayudu is lucky to be still in the middle. That was a costly drop from Badree in the deep that got Rayudu six runs. MI 42-1 in 6 overs.

Two sixes from Simmons and he gives the much needed start for Mumbai. MI 32-1 in 5 overs.

Just the lone boundary from Simmons. It's relatively a slow start from Mumbai openers. MI 8-0 in 2 overs.

Positive start from Badree. Not a big turner of the ball but he does know to bowl at the right areas. MI 4-0 in 1 over.

Chennai win toss and put Mumbai to bat first. Dhoni wants to give his bowlers a chance before his batsmen come out.

Rohit happy with the toss as they were keen on batting first here. Despite the two victories, Rohit says it's a fresh game and hopefully continue to perform the same way and keep winning.

After five successive losses, Mumbai Indians look to be on track as soon as they arrived in India registering two wins.

But it's not going to be an easy affair to carry on the momentum as they take on the powerful Chennai Super Kings who are sitting pretty at the second spot in the points table.

Playing at the Wankhede Stadium here on Saturday, the defending champions wil surely be looking for the home advantage and lots of support from the crowd.
