Haji Irfan smashed a stroke-filled half-century and Naveed bagged four wickets as Afridi CC defeated Al Mawsim Engineering by nine wickets in a quarter-final of the second Al Dhaid Ramadan T20 tournament, organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council, for the Conmix Cup at Al Dhaid Cricket Village.
Irfan hit 73 off just 30 balls with seven fours and five sixes as Afridi CC overhauled Al Mawsim Engineering’s modest total of 99 in just 7.2 overs. Mohammed Shehzad (19 off 15 balls) was the other major scorer.
Earlier, Al Mawsim Engineering struggled to pace their innings in the face of a spot-on Afridi CC attack. Naveed ripped through their innings, claiming four for 13 while Mohammed Shehzad picked up two for 28.
Zuhaib (22 off 15) and Zaheer (18 off 19) made good starts to their respective innings, but failed to convert them into big scores.
