Shaiman Butt put the Farooq CC attack to the sword bludgeoning 14 fours and nine sixes in his 172 as Wings CC XI went on to win by a massive margin of 201 runs in the DCC Elite Cup at the Fair ground on Tuesday night.
It was top class batsmanship from Shaiman who made the opposition look ordinary.
Wings were given a flying start by openers Riffat Ullah and Fawad Khan. The duo put on 71 runs before Fawad departed after scoring 37 which included four boundaries and three massive sixes.
Then Riffat Ullah in the company of Shaiman threw caution to the wind as they cut the Farooq attack to smithereens with a 157-run partnership.
And though Riffat went with a well-made 79 Farooq’s misery was far from over as Shaiman continued his savage display hitting anything and everything into the fence and some over it.
As if that was not enough Raqiz Khan rubbed more salt into their wounds with some slam bang hitting towards the end.
Raqiz slammed four fours and three sixes in his 14-ball 42.
Farooq were rocked early in their chase and although Ahmed Shaukat scored an unbeaten ton with Shehzad Khalid contributing 48 and Amir Iftikhar 29 it was always going to be a difficult target to achieve.
Wings XI CC beat Farooq CC by 201 runs: Wings XI 397 for 6 in 50 overs (Shaiman Butt 172, Riffat Ullah 79, Raziq Khan 42, Fawad Khan 37, Shahid Yousuf 25, Khurram Khan 22; Salman Farooq 2-87) Farooq CC 196 for 4 (Ahmed Shaukat 100 no, Shehzad Khalid 48, Amir Iftikhar 29 no; Peter Connell 2-24). Man of the match: Shaiman Butt of Wings XI.
