England fast bowler Mark Wood was a late addition Monday to the second-string Lions squad for their one-day series against Sri Lanka 'A' in the sub-continent in March.

Wood has had several ankle problems since making his England debut in 2015 and another one last year ruled him out of the senior England's side tours of Bangladesh and India.

Now Wood will be hoping to prove his fitness ahead of the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy in England.

Joining him in the Lions squad is Northamptonshire left-arm spinner Graeme White.

Both players are set to appear in the inaugural North v South match in Dubai ahead of the new county season.

"We had always been planning to add a left-arm spinner to the 14 players we named last month for the one-day series, and Graeme White deserves this chance after his performances for Northamptonshire in county cricket last summer," said England's national selector James Whitaker.

"Mark Wood will also be a valuable addition to the Lions squad, and in his case the one-day series in Sri Lanka is a good opportunity for him to start bowling again in competitive cricket before the North-South series and then the domestic 2017 season."
