Al Shabab enters Hamdan U-19 semi-final

Al Shabab will be the only UAE team in the semi-finals of the Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum 2nd International Under-19 Football Championships being played at the Al Nasr Club grounds.

In a crucial group A match, Al Shabab secured a fluent 3-0 win over Al Jahraa, Kuwait to cement their place, while Lega Pro of Italy routed Dubai Club 10-1 to clinch the second spot.

In Group B, Al Ahli suffered a setback when they were humbled 4-0 by French side RC Lens. Needing a win to make the semi-final stages, Al Ahli seemed to be out of touch as the French side made merry to score at will and advance to the semi-finals.

The second place was taken by UK side Birmingham FC after made their way past Hatta Club 6-1 in the second Group B match.

The play-off for third place will be held at 6 pm on Sunday, while the final will be played at 5 pm on Monday.
