After three games, Arsenal look a stronger side than Manchester City or Manchester United.

Stronger despite scoring fewer goals and with fewer points.

That is because, Arsenal are better in the two departments that will decide the Premier League title this year – midfield and defence… at least so far.

Apart from Chelsea, who are off to a flyer, no team looked more assured in midfield than Arsenal at Liverpool.

Can the Gunners dream again? Is this the year the title comes back to the Emirates?

Well, a key piece of that winning puzzle is about to fall in to place.

Mikel Arteta and Santi Cazorla are set. Abou Diaby is back to his unpredictable best – best against Liverpool, unpredictable for the future.

Which leaves one spot in midfield for the final title push to have any meaning?

Gunners’ fans will therefore be delighted to read that Jack Wilshere starts training with a football again next week.

According to an exclusive report in The Daily Mail, the England midfielder, 20, has not played for 13 months owing to ankle, foot and knee injuries.

Wenger has made no bones about the fact that his title-winning Arsenal squad has Wilshere very much in the heart of it.

According to the Mail, Wilshere is set to start another specially designed programme which will for the first time include extensive ball work.

The loss of Alex Song to Barcelona only augmented the value of Wilshere to Arsenal.

Bacary Sagna will also return to full training, four months after he broke his leg against Norwich.

Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood said, “At a certain level, we can’t compete [with Chelsea or Manchester City spending].”

Well with Jack back, you won’t have to Mr Hill-Wood.
