Atalanta beats Palermo 1-0 in Serie A

Finding motivation from its match-fixing penalty, Atalanta remained unbeaten in Serie A with a 1-0 win over Palermo on Sunday in a match that was suspended for more than 30 minutes due to a torrential rainstorm.

Argentine forward German Denis scored with an angled shot inside the near post in the 34th minute in Bergamo.

The match was suspended in the 64th minute when the pitch became drenched. Both squads returned to their changing rooms, then came back out when the rain stopped.

Atalanta, which was penalized six points for its role in a betting and match-fixing scandal, has minus two points after drawing 2-2 at Genoa in its opener last week.

Palermo, which opened with a 4-3 win over Inter Milan, remained with three points.

Later, defending champion AC Milan faced a tough test at Napoli and new Juventus coach Antonio Conte faced his former club Siena.
