Dubai Desert Classic gets Jumeirah Group support

Rory McIlroy … Jumeirah Group’s global ambassador

Jumeirah Group has signed a fresh contract with ‘golf in Dubai’, the promoters and organisers of the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, to be the official caterer and hospitality partner for the next four years.

Jumeirah, and specifically its official host hotel Madinat Jumeirah, has been associated with ‘golf in Dubai’ since 2006 and the extension of their partnership reflects on the company’s commitment to promoting Dubai as a global destination to international audiences.
With the 21-year-old golfing phenomenon Rory McIlroy as their global ambassador, who incidentally won his first European Tour title in Dubai in 2009, Jumeirah Group believes the development of golf has always been an essential ingredient in the growth of Dubai as a destination for international investment and tourism.
“We believe that ‘golf in Dubai’ plays an important role in the development and promotion of the game in our city. We are proud to be associated with them, and the quality of professional golfers and spectator experience that they bring to Dubai,” said Thatcher Brown, Vice-President of Brand Strategy & Management, Jumeirah Group.
Mohamed Juma Buamaim, vice-chairman and CEO of ‘golf in Dubai’, said: “The Omega Dubai Desert Classic provides a worldwide exposure for the city of Dubai, in general, and the sponsors in particular, creating interest for people to visit Dubai.
“Thanks to Jumeirah, the players always have a wonderful opportunity to savour the incomparable hospitality standards of the region,” he added.
The Omega Dubai Desert Classic will be played at the Emirates Golf Club from February 8 to 13.
