Organisers of the Omega Dubai Desert Classic expect a full house on all days when the longest-running European Tour event in the region gets underway at Emirates Golf Club from January 31 to February 3.

The $2.5 million tournament, now in its 24th year, will be preceded by a Challenge Match, featuring six marquee players, at the Jebel Ali Golf Resort on January 29 while the traditional pro am will be played at Emirates Golf Club’s Majlis course on January 30.

Fans can visit the tournament website (www.Dubaidesertclassic.com) to book tickets for the event which will see Europe’s elite golfers, led by former world number one Lee Westwood and defending champion Rafael Cabrera-Bello, descend on Dubai to showcase their skills.

Entry to the Challenge Match is free while regular tickets for the Pro-Am will cost Dh75 each. Daily tickets for the four-day main competition are priced at Dh175 and the season passes are available for Dh675.

Fans aged 18 and under, will be allowed free entry to the course if they are accompanied by an adult who is holding a valid ticket on the day of the tournament.

Members of Golf Citizen, the new golf reservation website (golfcitizen.com) launched by golf in Dubai in 2011, will receive a special 15 per cent discount on ticket and hospitality packages.

Golf enthusiasts from any part of the world can become a ‘Golf Citizen’ for free and book rounds at courses of their choice.

Meanwhile, hospitality packages are available for those who wish to entertain their guests during the tournament. Le Classique, located just behind the first tee of the Majlis Course, and The Terrace, overlooking the practice putting green, offer an unparralled hospitality experience.

“Since the inception of the tournament in 1989, the Omega Dubai Desert Classic has attracted a top-class field every year, underlining how Dubai has grown to become one of the world’s most exciting golfing destinations,” said Mohamed Juma Buamaim, vice chairman and CEO of golf in Dubai.

"We receive a number of enquiries daily from travel agencies, tour companies and golf fans across the world. If the early response is any indication, we can once again expect an excellent turn-out during the 2013 tournament,” he said.
