Latest Man Utd transfer news: Has Moyes finally found the new Paul Scholes?

A day after this website made the case for David Moyes needed to right Sir Alex's wrong and bring former United starlet Paul Pogba back to the Old Trafford, at least one UK newspaper claimed this was indeed the case.

Moyes was on hand personally to watch the Juventus star in action in a game against Calgiari and speculation was rife that the player Zinedine Zidane said could be the next Paul Scholes - Pogba - is the one Moyes wants.

Earlier we wrote:

Sir Alex Ferguson’s autobiography clearly reveals how his years at Manchester United were under-pinned by one golden rule – He ruled.

No player, not matter how talented or how great or how successful came before him (interpreted as ‘before the club’).

Into that bracket over the years have fallen Roy Keane, David Beckham and, just before Fergie quit, Paul Pogba.

Fergie is gone and new manager David Moyes could heed Fergie’s golden rule, but could also go back and revisit some players.

According to the recent form and expert view Paul Pogba – who was sent packing by Fergie – might well be Moyes’ answer to his midfield woes.

Days after newspaper reports linked Pogba to a move to Manchester City (cue the Tevez goal celebration), footballing legend Zinedine Zidane has weighed in and said Fergie made a mistake to let Pogba go.

In fact, in an interview to ‘The Sunday Mirror’ Zidane says, “He will go on to be one of the best central midfield players in Europe and he was the natural successor to Paul Scholes, someone they could have built the team around.”

That name – Scholes – is haunting and taunting the United midfield, and any player who comes even close to doing what Scholes did bring waves of relief to Old Trafford.

Despite the resurgence of Darren Fletcher and the commanding presence of Michael Carrick, United still need a Scholes.

Ironically, Pogba is a United product and perhaps Moyes should act while United are still currently a bigger name in Europe than Juventus.

Pogba back to Old Trafford, would be the bold transfer move the Stretford End has been wanting since ‘The Chosen One’ took over.
