India team dominate Kohlman Nations Cup

Teams, representing India, dominated the Kohlman Nations Cup, winning the top three places as the annual event lived up to its reputation of producing some fantastic scores at Emirates Golf Club.

The quartet of Gurjit Grewal, Jugwinder Brar, Achal Ghai and David Phillips, representing India Four, combined effectively to score a brilliant tally of 83 points, winning the tournament by a good four points. Jugwinder Brar and Gurjit Grewal, in particular, were too hot, contributing 44 of those with Ghai and Phillips compiling a 3-under par 39 points.

India also secured runners-up and third place resulting in a clean sweep of the top three positions. Tej Chhabra, Gurinder Singh, Gurmukh Ghuldu and Nishith Patel signed for a 79-point tally to secure second with Ramesh Prabhakar, Sanjeev Gheewala, Mukesh Kochar and Veneet Mohan one point further back to claim third.

Johnny Aldridge, Stephen Jones, Micky Brigg and Keith Prosser represented America admirably to card 77 points and fourth place overall.  The best attired team went to the quartet of Phil Harris, Xavier Arnail, Jon Sargeant and Eric Wormser representing Norway.

The UAE team of Ahmed Mashgari, Walid Al Attar, Husam Al Sayed and Saad Ahmed took the top prize in the sponsor’s guest category with a 74 points.

Also among the prizes were Micky Brigg, Xavier Arnail, Keith Prosser and Shravan Khanna for their accuracy on the nearest the pin prize holes. Khanna also picked up the longest drive on hole one with Trevor Hardwick, Mathys Oberholster and Karan Atwal also on the prize podium for their long hitting skills.

The Kohlman Nations Cup saw a huge turn-out of 128 players take to the Majlis course in teams of four all representing their respective countries.

General G.S. Kohli , chairman of the Kohlman Group, and Adel Zarouni of Emirates Golf Federation, presented the prizes.
