Jad Himo wins Red Bull Car Park Drift Regional Finals in Dubai

Lebanese drifter Jad Himo emerging victorious in the Red bull Car Park Drift Regional Finals held at the Dubai World Trade Centre in front of thousands of spectators from the UAE.

Jordanian drifter Othman Al Takriti managed to come in second place on the podium, edging out Omani Ali Al Bloushi, and clinching the Bridgestone award for Best Tyre Smoke.

The finals signal the end of an octane-fuelled season through which tens of thousands of fans followed the thrilling drifting performances, with qualifiers in the UAE, KSA, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Bulgaria.

The Regional Finals was one of the main events of Dubai Motor Festival held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Board.

The competition which was held in Dubai, home to various international events, included side acts which captivated the crowd, including Infiniti Red Bull Racing F1 car, days after a celebration atop the Burj Al Arab Helipad. Saudi stunt rider also wowed audiences with his tow wheel antics.

The drifters’ ever-increasing skills were a testament to the development of the sport in the region, making it even more difficult to predict this year’s champ.

The results were unclear till the last minutes of the gruelling, with winner Jad Himo putting forth an exceptional performance that mesmerised the spectators and landed him the title 'King of Drift'.

The judges used advanced systems in evaluating the competitors’ performance based on a combination of factors including speed, clipping points, car appearance, crowd reaction, and tire smoke generated from the drift.

The new 'King of Drift' expressed his excitement and joy of winning the title he achieved and his pride to be able to raise his country’s flag at the Regional Finals.

Rally Champion and all round motorsports hero Abdo Feghaly who directed the race pointed out that Red Bull Car Park Drift has once again represented a unique platform for Arab drifters to meet and compete on a professional level while promoting safe driving, in the right place, at the right.
