Mavericks rout Dubai Mammoths to win Friendly Friday's League
Mavericks Cricket Club outclassed Dubai Mammoths by eight wickets in the final of the Mavericks Friendly Friday's league.
Organised by Dubai Cricket Council and played on weekends on the Rugby Sevens Cricket grounds, the new league was a creative launch given to the corporate clubs in Dubai which play for fun with pure passion.
Mavericks won the toss and put the Mammoths to bat first in slightly wet conditions.
Mammoths openers Yakoob Masi (47), Ambey Parwatkar (21) added 65 in eight overs.
After they both fell Sameer Khan (36), Joshil Sukhani (24 no) and Javed Siddique (23) helped Mammoths make 186 for eight in 25 overs.
The Mavericks fielding was extraordinary saving as many as 20 runs and taking some superb catches backing some disciplined bowling.
The Mavericks made the chase of 7.25 per over look easy.
Their in-form batsman Muhammad Rumman made an unbeaten 90 off 64 balls with eight boundaries and a six to guide his team to 187 for two in 20.4 overs.
He was well supported by Shahzad Farooq (45), Asad Badami (21) and Khuram Shezad (19).
Rumman was declared the man of the match.
Farukh Siddiqi from the Dubai cricket council was the Guest of Honour and gave away the trophies.
Also individual prizes were given for the tournament which comprised 13 matches within a span of one month.
