Sharjah open cricket season with 6th Al Dhaid Gold Cup

The cricketing season kicks off in style as the Sharjah Cricket Council launched its season announcing the 6th Al Dhaid Gold Cup at the Al Dhaid Cricket Village from November 8.

The tournament will be a 40-over league cum knock-out format and a total of eight teams will vie for the top honours.

The teams are divided into two groups and top two teams from each group will make it to the semifinals followed by the final.

While Group A consists of Phoenix Medicine, Cost Cutter CC, UBL and Unicon Real Estate, Group B will have Eurocon Alubond, Abu Dhabi Gymkhana, UAE Exchange and Panthers Cricket Club.

Chairman of Al Dhaid Cricket Village, Waleed Bukhatir said: “We are delighted to launch the season opener with eight strong teams. We would like to take this opportunity to wish all the teams and players a success in the tournament.

“We have had a busy season last year with a lot of tournaments round the year.Work is also in progress to showcase our new turf ground at the Al Dhaid Cricket village, to ensure quality cricket for teams to develop their cricketing skills in UAE,” he added.
