Tennis fans braved the wet weather Monday to be first in line for tickets to this year’s Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.

With a superb line-up of the world’s top players heading to Dubai, enthusiastic fans queued from the very early hours to get their hands on the hottest tickets in town.

While finals tickets were in high demand, organisers are keen to remind people that all top seeds will play in the early rounds so every day of the two week event promises great action on court, and plenty of tickets for those matches are still available.

Ryan: “I have been here since 4am. I am so happy to get my tickets, I a big Roger Federer fan and it will be fantastic to see him, the crowd loves him here.”

Connie: “I’ve been here since 3.40am, I usually support Djokovic but since I’m Scottish and Andy Murray just announced he’s coming I’d really like him to win”.

An amazing line up of the world’s best players are heading for the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium which will be the most popular place in town from February 15 – 28.

Organisers are delighted to announce that current world number ones, Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams, and defending champions Roger Federer and Venus Williams will head the star-studded fields vying for the coveted Dubai titles, guaranteeing world class tennis action on every day of the tournament.

Along with Djokovic and Federer, the men’s field will feature previous finalists Andy Murray and Tomas Berdych, while the women’s event will see an incredible eight of the top 10 and 17 of the top 20 women in action.

The Williams sisters will face previous Dubai title holders Petra Kvitova, Agnieszka Radwanska and Caroline Wozniacki, as well as world number three Simona Halep, and former world number one Ana Ivanovic.

Tournament owners and organisers Dubai Duty Free are thrilled to be welcoming back so many of the world’s best players to what has become one of the most popular and competitive events on the world circuit.

Colm McLoughlin, Executive vice-chairman of Dubai Duty Free said: “Over the years we have seen the tournament grow and the now regular attendance of the very best in the world is testament to the stature and popularity of this event.

“We are again welcoming a stellar line up of the top men and women so we encourage all tennis fans to come and enjoy some spectacular action. With so many top players entered even the early round matches will be marvelous entertainment."
