The Mubadala Experience at the F1 Fan Zone, home to exciting F1-themed interactive activities, was buzzing on Wednesday night as thousands of motorsports fans came down to meet the Scuderia Ferrari driver Felipe Massa.
Massa, one of the competitors at the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, autographed caps and other Mubadala and Ferrari memorabilia for his fans.
Kate Triggs, Executive Director of Group Communications, Mubadala, said: “As Abu Dhabi gears up for the World Drivers’ Championship-deciding Grand Prix, we are delighted to have Felipe Massa join us at the Mubadala Experience. This is a chance for the community to experience the excitement of F1 so what could be better than meeting a Scuderia Ferrari driver?”
Before meeting the fans, Massa toured the Mubadala Experience - walking through a real life wind tunnel created to test aerodynamics in F1 cars. He then put his skills to the test at the F1 racing simulator and raced the cars built by students in the F1 in Schools programme.
“Seeing the excitement and passion of the F1 and Ferrari fans down at the Mubadala Experience is a real inspiration and makes me even more determined to win this weekend,” said Massa. “Mubadala’s support is really important to us and it’s great to see some of the community initiatives they’re involved in around our sport. The school students I met from the Mubadala-sponsored F1 in Schools programme are fantastic,” he added.
The venue, located at the entrance to Abu Dhabi’s Corniche, and covering 1,600 square metres, offers a climate-controlled area for guests to experience exciting F1-themed interactive activities that also showcase some of Mubadala’s most important projects.
“I’ve been really pleased to see so many Ferrari and F1 fans down on Abu Dhabi’s Corniche to share the excitement of one of the most thrilling climaxes to the season for many years. The projects that Mubadala’s involved in across Abu Dhabi, and the impact they’re having on the community, is great,” added Massa.
Mubadala is a Presenting Partner of the F1™ Fan Zone and entry to the Mubadala Experience is free. The venue is open until Sunday.
The F1 Fan Zone is part of Yasalam - Abu Dhabi’s celebration of the 2010 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
