Gitex Shopper: Best offers, bumper deals on Samsung, HTC, Nokia and BlackBerry

Bundle offers, double-digit discounts and bumper deals await at the Gitex Shopper today, offering some of the latest gadgets at a bargain for Dubai’s tech savvy consumers.

The region’s largest retail IT expo returns to the Dubai World Trade Centre, with over 30,000 gadgets and bumper raffle draws that include the chance to drive home in an Opel Astra all week, over the eight-day event.

This year’s focus will be on smartphones, with new launches up for grabs, along with back-to-school and festive buys enticing families on the occasion of the upcoming Eid Al Adha, Diwali and Christmas holidays.

Discounts and festive buys

While traditionally, bundle offers forms the backbone of Gitex Shopper, retailers this year have confirmed that hefty discounts, up to 25 per cent in some cases will also attract consumers.

Neelesh Bhatnagar, CEO of Emax Electronics stated: “Our presence at Gitex Shopper 2013 is stronger than ever, with lots of attractive offers, bundle offerings and discounts going up to 25 per cent to ensure visitors experience will be exciting and enjoyable.

“Our daily ‘deal of the day’ promotion is surely not to be missed and our offers will range across smartphones, tablets, laptops, and several other categories.”

Ashish Panjabi, COO of Jacky’s Electronics said: “Bundle offers will still cinch the deals for a lot of people, especially those who have been holding off their back-to-school purchases in the form of tablets and laptops, will make a beeline for the add-ons that will be available during Gitex.”

He continued: “The others will take advantage of the discounts and offers to hoard up for the festive season, with Eid Al Adha, Diwali and Christmas gift items making to the top of the list.”

New phone launches

Smartphones, which continues to rule the shopping segment, will see several key players battling it out with new launches, including Samsung, HTC, Nokia and the struggling BlackBerry.

Panjabi said: “Nokia is getting aggressive over its flagship model, the Lumia 1020, with Samsung being the other big player with its Galaxy Note III and the Gear and definitely new colours launched for its older models.”

Vithesh Reddy, General Manager, Nokia Lower Gulf stated: “The Nokia Lumia 1020 delivers a wealth of imaging innovation not seen on any other smartphone. Nothing gets as close with the 41 megapixel sensor, as the device allows users to see things they never thought possible.

“The exclusive UAE debut at Gitex Shopper is the ideal platform for Nokia to showcase the device, which establishes a new benchmark in smartphone imaging to date.”

Nokia has also announced that the first 1,000 Gitex Shopper customers of the Nokia Lumia 1020 will walk away with an essential mobile photography kit consisting of an innovative camera grip, mobile imaging tripod and a flip cover.

Commenting on Samsung’s participation at Gitex Marco Vocale, Head of Corporate Marketing at Samsung Gulf Electronics, stated: “At Gitex Shopper, Samsung will be showcasing a number of innovative products across all categories including smartphones, tablets, notebooks, TVs, cameras and printers.

“This includes the new Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear, as well as the incredibly popular Galaxy S4, which will be available in Autumn Brown with Gold and Twilight Pink with Gold.”

Other must have phones that will entice buyers include the long awaited HTC One Mini, the LG G2, the Sony Xperia Z1 and the BlackBerry Z30.

Hybrids steal the show

Laptops, which remains one of the most popular segment along with smartphones at Gitex, will include a few new launches, along with tablets also sharing the spotlight.

However, it’s the hybrids of PC-tablet in one that will lure buyers with new innovative technology.

Brands such as Toshiba, HP, Lenovo, Acer, Asus, a powered by the Dell will show off the new Intel Haswell processor, designed for Windows 8.1.

 “This year, we will be launching Toshiba’s most portable Tablet yet, in addition to showcasing our array of touchscreen laptops and latest models of hybrid notebooks, Tablets, All-in-One desktop PCs and gaming laptops,” said Santosh Varghese, General Manager-MEA, Digital Products and Services, Toshiba Gulf.

The hybrid segment will also see the HP Split x2, a versatile, two-in-one detachable Windows PC that combines the ultraportable notebook with a 33cm (13-inch) tablet creating quite a buzz.

Gitex Shopper 2013 will take place from October 5 to 12, 2013 from 11am to 11 pm on all days. Tickets are priced at Dh30 per person and will be available at the venue and from selected Eppco, Enoc and Zoom outlets closer to the show. Entry is free for children below the age of five.
