Dubai: UAE citizens and residents are being invited to participate in a national pledge initiative launched to express loyalty to the country's leadership and appreciation for the UAE's journey of security, stability and prosperity.

The initiative, titled 'Pledge and Commitment', was launched by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, on May 19 at the Abu Dhabi Energy Centre.

According to Sheikh Nahyan, the initiative reflects appreciation for the leadership of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his role in strengthening national security, social cohesion and stability.

More than 4,800 intellectuals, academics, investors, business leaders, students, residents and community representatives attended the launch event. Sheikh Nahyan was the first to sign the pledge document, followed by 30 prominent figures before participation was opened to the wider community.

On June 3, community members were invited to sign the pledge online through Sandooq Al Watan, a not-for-profit philanthropic organisation that supports programmes and initiatives aimed at sustaining Emirati national identity and values.

The initiative describes itself as:

  • A community message affirming that the UAE is a global model of unity, peace and stability.
  • A reflection of the values of peace, coexistence and loyalty that define the UAE's national identity.
  • A call to strengthen national partnership and encourage shared responsibility among all members of society.
  • An open platform for everyone living in the UAE to express appreciation for the country's achievements in safety, security and prosperity.
