The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department warns against offers of recruiting domestic workers

The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department warned against following the offers of fake recruitment offices for domestic workers through social media.

The department explained that these ads take the form of fake ads on social media about the possibility of recruiting domestic workers in the shortest time possible and for simple sums of money, accompanied by a picture or video of the worker.

The department identified three reasons why some people follow these fake ads, namely:

• Lack of awareness among individuals about how to verify the licenses of recruitment offices published on social media.
• The exploiter exploits the seasons of demand and the need for domestic workers.
• Offer a cheaper recruitment cost than licensed offices.

The department also identified the damages resulting from following the fake ads as follows:

• Loss of money.
• Difficulty reaching the perpetrators.
• The worker may be in violation of the residence law.

The department provided tips to prevent this phenomenon as follows:

• Dealing with official licensed offices for recruiting domestic workers always represents the safe way.
• Verifying approved recruitment offices through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation website.
• Calling the number 590000 600 to verify the reliability of the entities promoting domestic workers through social media.
