Dubai: If the heat has felt particularly intense this week, there is some relief on the way for the weekend.

According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), temperatures across the UAE are expected to gradually ease from Friday, dropping by 3 to 5 degrees, after highs climbed into the mid-40s earlier this week.

"Starting today, the country will be affected by northwesterly winds. So, temperatures will start to decrease gradually, especially over the coast and the sea, it will become rough at times," Dr Ahmed Habib, a meteorology expert at the centre, told Emirates 24|7.

The highest temperature forecast for coastal areas today is 39°C, with lows of around 23°C.

It will be slightly warmer in the internal parts of the country, though, with highs of 42°C and lows of 20°C expected.

A dusty Saturday

Tomorrow, the wind speeds will increase, bringing the temperature further down, almost all across the UAE, according to Dr Habib. However, the wind is also forecast to blow up dust and sand. The Arabian Gulf is also expected to be choppy due to the stronger winds. Temperatures, however, are forecast to dip by another degree or two.

The weather on Sunday is expected to remain steady, with no major change in temperature or wind speed.

"In general, people just need to exercise caution when there is a sea warning issued by the NCM, as the sea will be rough. Also, there may be some land areas where visibility will decrease due to the blowing dust and sand," Dr Habib said.

Overall a nice weekend to be out and about for the shopping bonanza announced!
