A young Jordanian man named Hamza Al-Fanatessa was shot and killed by a stray bullet fired by a guest at his wedding celebration in the southern Jordanian governorate of Ma'an.

The incident has caused widespread grief and anger in Jordan, where shootings at weddings have become a major problem.

Al-Fanatessa, 20, was killed on Wednesday, August 31, 2023, as he was getting ready for his wedding ceremony. He was shot in the chest and died at a nearby hospital.

In a statement, the Jordanian Public Security Directorate (PSD) condemned the shooting and vowed to bring the shooter to justice.

The PSD also called on Jordanians to stop firing guns at weddings, saying that it is a dangerous and reckless practice that has claimed the lives of innocent people.

The statement said, "We will treat those who shoot guns at weddings as criminals. We have already begun to crack down on this dangerous practice, and we will continue to do so until it is stopped."

The PSD also urged Jordanians to stand up against the practice of shooting guns at weddings and help to end this deadly trend.

Al-Fanatessa's death is a tragic reminder of the dangers of firing guns at weddings. It is a practice that must be stopped before it claims more lives.
