Saudi newspapers published a short film showing a super-giant locust perched on a building wall in the Gulf Kingdom, triggering panic among people. But the papers said many viewers doubted the film is true.
The YouTube film was carried by social networks and local newspapers showing people staring from a distance at the insect that appeared clung at the wall in the western Red Sea port of Jeddah at night.
The Arabic language daily Ajel said many readers contacted it saying they believe the film is a scam but some others said they believe it is true.
“I have been told by some old people this is called the ‘Mother of Locusts’.
“It lives in Africa and was seen in Riyadh nearly 40 years ago,” one reader said.
