NGK Spark Plug has embarked on a major expansion plan in the region – an indication of positive growth in the automobile industry in the region. The increase in business resulted in a record Dh136m sales turnover in 2011.

Measuring 30,000 sq ft, a new Jebel Ali warehousing facility of NGK/NTK ME was inaugurated on March 6, 2012, by Norio Kato, its Chairman, and Ibrahim Al Janahi, Deputy CEO JAFZA & Chief Commercial Officer Economic World Zones.

“The environment surrounding us has reached a point of great change. It can be said that with recent events that the very manufacturing ability of Japan is being tested. In these times of great change, NGK Spark Plug is working to strengthen our management infrastructure as we seek to become a new type of manufacturer that is appropriate for the global age. Our efforts are based on the philosophy of producing quality products with participation by all employees, a philosophy that we have acquired during the many years since our founding,” said President and CEO Shinichi Odo in a message supporting their regional expansion plans.

Having launched their NGK/NTK ME operations in 2002 in JAFZ North blue shed office, the company has witnessed tremendous expansion over the last ten years. In addition to their flagship spark plugs, NGK/NTK has introduced new product range including NTK oxygen sensors, NTK radiator caps, etc. thus resulting in an increased space requirement, hence the need for a larger space.
