The 2014 International District Cooling Conference will be held in Dubai from December 14 to 16 under the theme of ‘Cleaner Energy, Greener Cities’.

“Dubai is a leading global city which has clearly embraced district cooling as energy-efficient and environmentally-sound infrastructure,” said Rob Thornton, President and CEO, International District Energy Association, which is hosting the conference.

“When you consider its extensive networks of world-class district cooling facilities, coupled with its strategic regional location and the government leadership’s commitment to environmentally-responsible development, it is clear that Dubai is an excellent location to bring the global district cooling industry together,” he said.

The conference brings together industry experts and leading practitioners from around the world. The International District Cooling Conference is held in different locations around the world. The 2014 edition will share industry best practices, updates on technological innovations, and feature case studies related to utility-scale energy efficiency and water conservation techniques.

A key focus during conference sessions will be on how to best incorporate global benchmarks in district cooling for the climate of the Middle East and North Africa.

“Dubai’s district cooling industry has seen much growth, so hosting an event that attracts global delegates from industries like real estate, urban planning, construction, utilities and district cooling will only benefit this emirate in the long run,” said Ahmad bin Shafar, Chief Executive Officer, Empower, a Dubai-based district cooling firm.
