European countries accounted for 40.7 percent of all FDI in Abu Dhabi: Official

Director of Foreign Trade and Export Support at the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, Adeeb Al Afifi, said European countries accounted for 40.7 per cent of all foreign direct investment in the emirate of Abu Dhabi in 2014.
 
He was speaking before representatives of the European Union, Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council, the German Emirati Joint Council for Industry and Commerce and Daman, Abu Dhabi's health insurance company, during a  symposium about the European market.
 
Trade Counselor for the Delegation of the European Union to the UAE, Dr. Wolfgang Penzias, said EU's trade policy is aimed at opening new markets for exports, labour and investors through agreements about reducing tariffs on trade and removing other barriers to trade.
 
Director and Deputy CEO of the German Emirati Joint Council for Industry and Commerce, Dr. Dalia Abu Samra-Rohte, said trade between the UAE and Germany stood at Dh66.1 billion (US$18 billion) during this year.
