Three brands of honey banned in UAE

Ministry of Health has banned three dietary supplements, which contain ‘tadalafil’ that causes drop in blood pressure.

Youth Royal Honey, VIP Royal Honey and Bio-Herbs Royal King Honey pose a threat to users’ health, said Dr Amin Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health and Licences Policy, MoH.

Dr Amiri, who is also chairman of higher committee for medicine vigilance, said tadalafil causes sharp drop in blood pressure and could pose a significant threat to patients with heart disease and diabetes or those suffering from high levels of glycosides, especially those who are taking medicines that contain nitrates, reported ‘Al Bayan’.

"With the growing phenomenon of sale of dietary supplements, the Ministry of Health and Prevention finds it necessary to warn and alert the public not to use these products, which put their lives at risk," he added.
