Dubai-based Landmark Group has leased over 220,000 square feet in Al Khail Avenue mall coming up in Jumeirah Village Triangle, Nakheel, the developer of the mall, said.

The group will operate over 25 outlets such as Home Centre, Centrepoint, E-max, New Look, Reiss, Fun City, Shoexpress, SportsOne and Candelite.

The mall will feature a 14-screen movie complex from Reel Cinemas. British supermarket chain Waitrose is also on board.

Omar Khoory, Director of Nakheel Retail, said: “Al Khail Avenue is proving a magnet for retailers, restaurant operators and entertainment-related businesses wanting to be part of this exciting new destination development.”

Manu Jeswani, Director, Landmark Group, added: “We are bringing over 25 core brands to the mall and, through our strong presence, will cater to a large, captive, loyal shopper base.”

With a total of 1.2 million square feet of retail space, Al Khail Avenue will have 350 shops, a diverse range of cafes and restaurants including al fresco dining and a multi-storey car park with 4,400 spaces. Construction will begin this year, with expected opening in 2018.

The developer’s retail project portfolio is set to become the biggest in the UAE, with 10 new large-scale developments and a growing collection of smaller-scale community retail centres on the way. The company has more than 11 million square feet of leasable retail space in the pipeline, adding to the 2.5 million already in operation at its Dragon Mart and Ibn Battuta Mall developments.
